Rebuilds the PDF's internal structures to fix a damaged or malformed file. Useful when a PDF fails to open in some viewers.

Repair PDF rebuilds the internal structures of a damaged or malformed PDF to produce a valid document. It fixes broken cross-reference tables, truncated files, and other structural issues that prevent a PDF from opening in some viewers. Repair runs entirely in your browser via qpdf-wasm — your file never leaves your device.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Repair happens entirely in your browser using a Web Worker and qpdf-wasm. Your file never leaves your device.

What kinds of damage can this fix?

Repair fixes structural issues: broken cross-reference tables, malformed headers, truncated files, and other problems that prevent a PDF from opening. It cannot recover content that is missing from the original file.

Can it repair an encrypted PDF?

Not without the password. If the PDF is password-encrypted, use Unlock PDF first to decrypt it, then repair the decrypted copy if needed.

Will the repaired PDF look the same?

The visual content (pages, text, images) is preserved. The repair only fixes internal structures — the output should render identically to the original when the original was valid.
